PURSE WITH MAGNETIC CLOSURE

There are many purse patterns out there - here's my version using an entire sheet of double-sided 12" x 12" patterned paper. A second sheet of the same pattern paper was used to make the matching cards. Stamps by Heidi Swapp.

Supplies
(1) 12"x12" double-sided patterned paper (heavy weight)
1 yard 1/2" wide coordinating gross-grain ribbon
1 large Basic Grey Magnet
1 Silver Plated Flower Charm
1 Silver Plated Circle Nailhead Charm
1 ball chain
1 1-1/4" x 8" solid cardstock that coordinates with purse paper

Cutting

Directions
Cut the 12x12 to measure 8-1/2 x 11.

Save all remaining pieces. (3-1/2 x 12" and 1 x 8-1/2" piece).

Scoring 1

The 8-1/2 x 11 piece will be scored as follows:
On the 11" side:
Score 4-1/2" from the left edge
Score 4-1/2" from the right edge

Scoring 2

On the 8-1/2" side:
Score 1-1/4" from the left edge
Score 1-1/4" from the right edge

Scoring 3

Cut the two center score lines horizontally to the score line. Do this for both sides.

Fold to center.

Fold paper on all score lines.

Side Panels

Take the 3-1/2 x 12" piece and cut to (2) 3-1/2 x 4-1/2" pieces.

Center the two solid 3-1/2 x 12" pieces on top of the patterned side of the purse and adhere as pictured.

Ribbon Handles

Adhere 18" of the ribbon where the patterned paper and solid paper meet - forming purse handle at top.

Repeat for other panel.

Adhering 1

Place adhesive on the two narrow inside flap edges of the front side of your purse (the solid color side).

Also put adhesive on the two small bottom flaps (on the patterned side)

Adhering 2

Bring the sides up to form a purse, slightly at an angle when overlaping the edges.

You’ll need to trim the bottom edge of the purse.
Repeat for other side.

Add Magnet

Corner round one end of the 1" x 8" strip of patterned paper.
Place the negative side of the Basic Grey magnet about 1/4" down from the rounded edge of the patterned paper.

Mat Closure

Back the patterned strip with a 1-1/8" x 8" piece of black cardstock that is corner rounded on one end, sandwiching the magnet between the patterned paper strip and the black cardstock strip.

Adhere Closure

Place the straight edge of the strip against the bottom edge of the back of your purse - centered on the panel.

Adhere to panel.
