This 6x6 minibook features those fabulous Fancy Pants (Pollen Dust) acrylic stamps.
Use the book to display your favorite photos, Mother’s Day pictures, whatever you'd like - the possibilties are endless! We’ll play with Adirondack Dabber paints, inks, mica, magnets, bling, and you’ll even get to try out that new Bind-it all machine.

Please bring your class kit (adhesive, scissors, paper cutter)

PURSE WITH MAGNETIC CLOSURE

There are many purse patterns out there - here's my version using an entire sheet of double-sided 12" x 12" patterned paper. A second sheet of the same pattern paper was used to make the matching cards. Stamps by Heidi Swapp.

Supplies
(1) 12"x12" double-sided patterned paper (heavy weight)
1 yard 1/2" wide coordinating gross-grain ribbon
1 large Basic Grey Magnet
1 Silver Plated Flower Charm
1 Silver Plated Circle Nailhead Charm
1 ball chain
1 1-1/4" x 8" solid cardstock that coordinates with purse paper

Cutting

Directions
Cut the 12x12 to measure 8-1/2 x 11.

Save all remaining pieces. (3-1/2 x 12" and 1 x 8-1/2" piece).

Scoring 1

The 8-1/2 x 11 piece will be scored as follows:
On the 11" side:
Score 4-1/2" from the left edge
Score 4-1/2" from the right edge

Scoring 2

On the 8-1/2" side:
Score 1-1/4" from the left edge
Score 1-1/4" from the right edge

Scoring 3

Cut the two center score lines horizontally to the score line. Do this for both sides.

Fold to center.

Fold paper on all score lines.

Side Panels

Take the 3-1/2 x 12" piece and cut to (2) 3-1/2 x 4-1/2" pieces.

Center the two solid 3-1/2 x 12" pieces on top of the patterned side of the purse and adhere as pictured.

Ribbon Handles

Adhere 18" of the ribbon where the patterned paper and solid paper meet - forming purse handle at top.

Repeat for other panel.

Adhering 1

Place adhesive on the two narrow inside flap edges of the front side of your purse (the solid color side).

Also put adhesive on the two small bottom flaps (on the patterned side)

Adhering 2

Bring the sides up to form a purse, slightly at an angle when overlaping the edges.

You’ll need to trim the bottom edge of the purse.
Repeat for other side.

Add Magnet

Corner round one end of the 1" x 8" strip of patterned paper.
Place the negative side of the Basic Grey magnet about 1/4" down from the rounded edge of the patterned paper.

Mat Closure

Back the patterned strip with a 1-1/8" x 8" piece of black cardstock that is corner rounded on one end, sandwiching the magnet between the patterned paper strip and the black cardstock strip.

Adhere Closure

Place the straight edge of the strip against the bottom edge of the back of your purse - centered on the panel.

Adhere to panel.

Closure 2

Bring the rounded magnet side of the strip to the front of the purse and position it where you would like it to rest.

Hold the strip in place with one hand and slip the positive side of the magnet to the inside of the purse until it catches the magnet from the purse closure.

Closure 3

Adhere the magnet in place on the inside of the purse.
After you have punched the circle tags (below), use a scrap of matching color paper to cover the magnet.

Closure 4 - Optional

OPTIONAL:
I trimmed the patterned paper closure strip down to 7/8" and backed it with a 1"x8-1/2" piece of black cardstock so it would accommodate a round nailhead.

Tag Embellishment

Punch two 1-1/2" circles from the remaining 3x3-1/2" square.
Adhere solid sides of circle punches together. Edge with black ink.
Punch a hole to make it a tag.
Attach a flower charm to a jump ring and attach the charm & tag to the ball chain, and hang from the left front handle.
From the scraps left after punching the two circles, cut a square large enough to cover the magnet that’s on the inside of the purse.
